Heavy Plant Operator/Labourer
We have an opportunity for a Heavy Plant Operator/Labourer to join our Road Construction & Maintenance group. The operator will be responsible for the safe and effective operation of Council plant such as rollers, backhoes, excavators, loaders, job trucks and slashers in a civil construction and maintenance environment. The successful applicant will also be required to undertake labouring duties, perform manual handling tasks as requested and be prepared to work anywhere within the Shire.
The position involves physically demanding work in a hot and humid climate on a daily basis. Applicants must be physically fit to efficiently and effectively undertake these tasks. Council may require applicants to undergo a full physical pre-employment medical examination which includes drug and alcohol testing. This role includes a requirement to maintain a weight at or below the Safe Working Load (SWL) for the seat of the machinery and equipment being operated. Maintenance of a safe working environment and application of correct manual handling techniques are mandatory requirements for this position.
