For the first time in Coffs Harbour’s sporting history, C.ex Coffs International Stadium will host an NRL Telstra Premiership Game in 2021.

With the Coffs Coast firmly on the radar of elite national sports teams and competitions of all types, local and visiting NRL fans have been hoping and waiting for this announcement for many years!

In 2021, the Prime Minister’s favourite team the Cronulla Sharks will travel to the Coffs Coast for a home game, in what promises to be an absolutely brilliant night of football.

In a joint partnership the NSW Government, the NRL, Coffs Harbour City Council and the Cronulla Sharks have come together to make this happen and provide the Cronulla Sharks a new home away from home.

Member for Coffs Harbour, Mr Gurmesh Singh MP said “the Coffs Coast has well and truly cemented its place as the premier sporting destination in Regional New South Wales. Holding an NRL game in Coffs Harbour is a dream come true, and I’m proud to be able to help deliver this game for all our sports fans on the Coffs Coast.”

Coffs Harbour Mayor Councillor Denise Knight said “we are thrilled to be yet again be identified as the regional sporting capital of Australia, and hosting a Sharkies home game at the recently upgraded C.ex Coffs International Stadium is going to be super special. We can’t wait to deliver this for our community and visitors.  Our Council team have shown yet again what can be achieved through hard work.  We really punch above our weight and pardon the pun but we continue to kick goals.”

Dino Mezzatesta Group CEO of Cronulla Sharks adds “This is a wonderful opportunity for the Sharks on a number of fronts. Taking this game to Coffs gives us a chance to play in front of our regional fans who might not otherwise be able to watch the Sharks play in person, it allows us to expand our brand and to hopefully win over a few more fans on the NSW North Coast, while I’ve got no doubt there will be plenty of Sharks members and supporters from Sydney who will make a weekend of it and travel up for the game.”

Graham Annesley NRL Head of Football – Elite Competitions said “the NRL worked hard, alongside our Clubs, to ensure there was a strong focus on regional locations in the 2021 draw.  Coffs Harbour is an incredibly strong and vibrant rugby league area so it will be fantastic to see the Premiership on the Coffs Coast next year.  The support of the NSW Government, Coffs Harbour City Council and the Sharks has been significant and will ensure enormous benefits for the local community.”

The NRL will release their 2021 season including the Coffs Harbour Game, date and opposing team, later this week. Tickets will go on Sale in March of 2021.
