Award-winning retro dance act Client Liaison will help celebrate Corangamite Shire’s young people at YouthFest! 2020.
An exclusive performance by the ‘World of Our Love’ and ‘Off White Limousine’ duo will be live streamed as part of The Big Night In on Friday 11 December. Local soloists Grace Moloney and Flynn Gurry will perform live from the Camperdown Theatre Royal and be streamed into the homes of the Shire’s young people. Local troupe Dance Struck will pre-record a performance.
Youth Mayor Tess Lourey encouraged people to tune in from their couch, backyard, or bedroom, and to sing and dance like nobody is watching.
“It’s an opportunity look back on a weird year and celebrate what we’ve been able to achieve as a community. In 2020 we’ve been doing everything online, from school to socialising, and YouthFest! Is another way we can keep in touch with our friends and have fun in cyberspace.”
YouthFest! is an all-inclusive event that shines the spotlight on Corangamite Shire’s young people. In its inaugural year the event was attended by over 300 people at the Civic Hall in Terang who honoured local athletes and enjoyed live music and dance performances, plus exceptional examples of creative arts from talented individuals who the Corangamite community proudly call their own.
“This year is a bit different. It’s more of a big thank you to all our young people for getting though such a challenging year with such amazing adaptability and resilience. A chance to let their hair down and come together virtually.”
Tess and newly elected Mayor Ruth Gstrein will talk to the audience about Corangamite Shire’s SYNC Youth Strategy.
“YouthFest! is all about supporting and inspiring the youth of Corangamite,” Cr Gstrein said.
“Young people are a really important part of our community and this event is one of the ways youth can get involved and know they belong to the wider social network.
“Youth Council and the Shire’s Youth Services aim to let every young person in Corangamite know their voice is heard and their opinions are valued. There are always challenges to overcome–this year more than ever. The SYNC Youth Strategy is designed to help us find creative and fun ways get over those hurdles together.”
