The Town of Cambridge encourages residents to buy local this Christmas with its first-ever ‘Shop small to win big in Cambridge’ campaign being launched on Tuesday 1 December.
Residents are invited to enter a competition by spending $10 at three separate eligible Cambridge businesses for a chance to win one of 10 $250 vouchers from those businesses.
Cambridge Mayor Keri Shannon said local Town businesses were great places to find perfect Christmas gifts for the whole family without having to join the crowds at the larger out-of-town shopping centres.
“It’s more important than ever to shop local this Christmas as small Cambridge businesses have been significantly impacted by COVID-19 this year,” she said. “Results from our COVID-19 Business Economic Impact Survey conducted in June indicated businesses would like the Town to provide further support by continuing to promote local businesses to residents and visitors.
“The Town is home to a range of independent, unique, small, family-owned businesses and they each play a vital role in making Cambridge such a vibrant community.
”The campaign is part of the Council’s Relief and Recovery Plan, which included a number of measures to support the community through the impacts of COVID-19, including a ‘buy local’ program for small businesses.
The competition will close at midnight, Monday 21 December and 10 winners will be selected at random on Tuesday 22 December.
