With shelters for picnic tables and a new public toilet near the playground, Royal Avenue Reserve in Sandringham will soon have you covered rain, hail or shine.

From 4 December 2020, shelters will be installed over the picnic tables near the tennis wall, which is located to the west of the playground. These shelters have been generously donated by the Sandringham Rotary Club, as part of Council’s Royal Avenue Reserve Masterplan.

A new public toilet is also being installed between the playground and skate bowl to provide all-abilities access and improve visibility, public safety and local amenities. The existing bluestone toilet behind Council’s offices will be closed following completion of the new all-abilities facility in February 2021.

The playground in Royal Avenue Reserve will also be upgraded next year as part of Council’s Playground Improvement Plan, with plans currently being finalised following community feedback.  The proposed upgrades for the playground include two new slides (one accessible by ramp), a new flying fox, carousel and play bridge. The new designs have been developed using feedback from our young Playground Testers, other playground users, local residents and members of the community.
