This summer, Wyndham City’s West End Experience will transform the western end of Watton Street in Werribee into a new pop-up dining precinct with fresh air and scrumptious bites from 15 different restaurants, cafes and bars.
From 11 – 13 December, the area between Bridge Hotel and Wedge Street will become an alfresco precinct, fully fitted out with outdoor dining furniture, umbrellas, greenery and comfy spots to relax.
Wyndham City Mayor Cr Adele Hegedich said the West End Experience is just one of many Council initiatives aimed to support businesses after the devastating effects of COVID-19 restrictions.
“As restrictions continue to ease, Wyndham City is working with businesses to make it as easy as possible to welcome people safely back to our City centres, while meeting social distancing and density requirements,” Ms Hegedich said.
“When local Werribee businesses came to us with the idea for the West End Experience, we were excited by the opportunity to pilot this new outdoor dining concept.”
“Across the world, cities have embraced new modes of alfresco dining and here in Wyndham we want to make it as easy and as practical as possible for businesses to be able to be bring the café and restaurant experiences we love, outside.”
“There’ll be a Pop Up from Wyndham Cultural Centre, live tunes from local musicians plus neon artworks from Carla O’Brien and sparkling festoon lighting to take you into the evening.”
A few of the participating local restaurants include Bridge Hotel, Truckstop Deluxe, Ages Pizza Place, and Mama Lor. You can also be one of the first to discover new pizzeria, Teddy Picker and wine bar, Corked. Bookings are encouraged, check them out online for more details.
Creative City portfolio holder Cr Marcel Mahfoud is thrilled that the West End Experience will create a new way of dining and fill the restaurants, bars and cafes.
“This is all about bringing people back to our much-loved town centres and shopping strips, ensuring our businesses can bounce back as quickly and as safely as possible.”
“With the support of grant funding from the Victorian Government’s Outdoor Eating and Entertainment Package, Wyndham City is delivering a number of initiatives to support businesses with safe, practical and creative options as they adapt to new models of outdoor dining.”
Each venue will have their own outdoor seating area that will be available for bookings with a smaller area for walk-up dining. QR Code check-ins will be in place to ensure everyone’s safety.
