Wyndham City has a new kerbside waste service provider.
Cleanaway Pty Ltd will take over the collection of household garbage, recycling and garden organics for 90,000 Wyndham households from 7 December 2020, after Council awarded the waste management company a seven-year kerbside waste contract earlier this year.
Wyndham City Mayor Adele Hegedich said Council was working closely with both Cleanaway and outgoing contractor JJ Richards & Sons to ensure a smooth transition.
“Residents can be assured that the kerbside waste collection calendar will operate as normal and bin collection days will remain the same,” Cr Hegedich said.
“However, residents may notice that their bins are emptied earlier or later in the day than they are used to – this is because Cleanaway has optimised the routes it will take on each collection day.”
“Residents are reminded to put out their bins the night before collection to ensure they don’t get missed.”
Wyndham City Climate Futures and Environment portfolio holder, Councillor Robert Szatkowski said: “Wyndham City is committed to reducing the amount of waste going to landfill in line with our Waste and Litter Strategy 2016-2040, which details our plan to divert 90 per cent of the City’s waste from landfill by 2040,” Cr Szatkowski said.
“Since adopting the strategy, Council has actioned a number of initiatives to help residents reduce rubbish dumping and increase recycling, including increasing the number of hard waste collections from two per year to three; and cutting the cost for the optional green bin service.”
