E-Waste Service at Lithgow Solid Waste Facility ensures diversion of recyclable material from landfill

The E-waste shipping container has been in action at Lithgow Solid Waste facility since 2015. Once the shipping container is full it is transported to Sydney. The useful materials are reclaimed and waste to landfill is reduced. This process also offers piece of mind as it includes secure disabling of hard drive and sensitive information.

The service is offered through an approved Co-Regulatory Arrangement under the Australian Government Product Stewardship Act. Ensuring that the items are ethically recycled.

Ultimately this process achieves recycling rates of 95% due to the manual nature of the processing, therefore reducing the amount of waste to landfill.
