You know the saying, ‘When you buy from a small business, an actual person does a little happy dance’. Well after the year our local businesses have had, we would love to see more happy dances to finish 2020.
If you can, please do your Christmas gift and food shopping in one or more of our small Northern Beaches businesses. They’ll love you for it!
So how can you shop local? Buy products made on the Northern BeachesBuy from locally owned shopsChoose vouchers for local experiencesNot that you needed any more enticing but we’ve made our local villages more festive and fun so you’ll want to hang around a little longer!
Council has put up more Christmas decorations than ever before including garlands and pole flags. We’ve organised Christmas carollers in centres up and down the Beaches and a COVID-safe performance by Grace City Church at Dee Why Meriton on Sunday 13 December, 12 - 2pm.
To liven up our villages, you’ll find incredible chalk art across the area so keep an eye out! You can keep the whole family entertained with hopscotch, snakes and ladders, a maze and Simon Says all on the pavement!
For businesses who want to get involved, we’re distributing ‘Shop local this Christmas’ window stickers. If you’re a local business and would like to request a Shop local sticker, please email [email protected]
Some of our local villages are extending their hours for special late night shopping events too! Newport Village’s Christmas shopping night will be held Wednesday 16 December, 5 – 8pm but festive promotions from local businesses will run all day. Avalon Village will host a Christmas late night shopping event on Thursday 17 December, 5 - 8pm with live jazz music, sales, children’s colouring competition, Christmas window displays and a very special guest Santa!
While we can’t have our large events this summer, we hope this little extra festivity in our town centres helps you to enjoy the holidays, and of course, support our local businesses.
