It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Maroondah and Council is delighted to be spreading some joy that is sure to get you into the festive spirit.
Will your home or street be Maroondah’s brightest this Christmas?
Residents have until Friday 11 December to enter our inaugural ‘Light Up Maroondah’ Christmas lights competition to be in the running to win a $250 Eastland voucher.
Entry is free and winners will be announced on Friday 18 December.
We have already received some amazing photo entries, with prizes to be awarded for Best Lit House; Best Novelty House; People’s Choice and Best Street.
Thank you also to those who cast their vote for our People’s Choice award from photos displayed on our social media channels. The photo with the most votes will win a $250 Eastland gift voucher.
The winner of the Best Street category will win a novelty street sign!
Mayor Cr Kylie Spears said the competition was a way to safely share the joy of Christmas.
“2020 has been a challenging year for many in our community and I am excited to see homes lit up with dazzling displays once again,” Cr Spears said.
“If you enjoy Christmas and putting up light displays or have been waiting for an excuse to go all out, this is the perfect opportunity,” she said.

Have you spotted Santa’s official Scout Elf in Maroondah yet?Santa’s official Scout Elf has been popping up in various locations in Maroondah to spread some Christmas cheer - can you find him?
Visit Council’s Facebook page for clues as to where the Elf might be. If you happen to locate the elf, why not take a sELFie and share it with us on social media and with your friends.
The special elf display will be making its way around the city until Christmas Eve, so there’s plenty of time to capture a selfie with the Elfie!
For anyone planning to view Christmas light displays or taking part in the search for the elf, please remember that the Victorian Government’s social distancing restrictions remain in place.
