Applications open for 2021 Youth Council

The Youth Council plays an important role in the region by advocating for the needs of young people and providing an avenue for youth representatives to participate in decision making on important community issues.

The team also acts in an advisory and consultative capacity to Council and Council staff on projects and any other matter that affects the region’s youth.

“Becoming a member of the Youth Council not only helps to develop leadership and advocacy skills, it also provides an opportunity to make meaningful change in our communities,” said Mel Sass, Snowy Monaro Regional Council Youth Development Officer.

“Our Youth Councillors are community leaders and role models, and I am continually impressed by the passion and commitment they bring to their roles.

“I’d say to anyone interested that if you have ideas on how to make this region better then this is your chance to make it happen. You’ll also receive ongoing mentoring and support, and have the opportunity to participate in leadership training and conferences throughout the year.”

Applications are open to anyone aged 12-24 years and can be made by completing the form, link below.
