Hay there! What can you do with a bale of hay?
Corangamite Shire Council is launching its first ever Aussie Hay Bale Trail competition.
Set to run throughout January, the trail will celebrate everything Australian and kick off 2021 with a welcome dose of hay bale art fun and colour.
Council Community Recovery Officer Helen Arundell invited residents to get on board and show their artistic side.
“We’re calling on farmers, townships, schools, community halls—everyone, to join the fun and get creative,” she said.
“You might even be in the running to win a $500 spending voucher.
“It will be great to see hay bale art in paddocks, towns and at district halls right across the Shire.”
Ms Arundell said the competition aimed to celebrate everything Australian: Vegemite, koalas, meat pies, a cold tinnie, the Southern Cross, Uluru or AC/DC.
“There’s so much to celebrate, so get your thinking caps on and get creative,” she said.
“It’s been a challenging year. Now the weather is improving and coronavirus restrictions are coming off it’s time to have some fun.
“Joining in will help us come together as a community and bring smiles to the faces of neighbours and passers-by.
“Entries will be included on an Aussie Hay Bale Trail touring map to create a great day out for locals and visitors alike and help make Corangamite Shire stand out from the rest.”
Entries close 5 pm Monday 4 January 2021.
