Rolling back of COVID-19 restrictions in NSW

On Monday, 7 December 2020, the NSW Government rolled back COVID-19 restrictions across the state, replacing the 4sqm rule with the 2sqm rule.

As a result, Yass Valley Council has made the operational decision to implement the following changes:

Pools Increase the capacity at Yass Pool from 226 people to 452 people. Increase the capacity at Binalong Pool from 70 people to 140 people. Under the 2sqm rule, Council has limited capacity to open change and shower facilities at both pools provided social distancing measures can be maintained. Event (including swimming carnival) capacity will continue to be determined on a case-by-case basis and according to the organiser’s COVID-19 Safety Plan. Community Sports Community sporting activities are allowed, including training sessions and contact activities. For community sporting activities that involve more than 100 participants, the organiser must have a COVID-19 Safety Plan for community sporting competitions and full training activities. Participants include players, people who are training, officials and spectators. More than one parent may attend community sporting activities if physical distancing of at least 1.5 metres can be maintained between people that are not from the same household. The maximum number of participants at a community sporting activity must not exceed 3,000 participants. Caravan Park Communal areas - one person per 2sqm and appropriate physical distancing in communal areas where people gather such as BBQ and kitchen facilities. Guests - visitors staying at the grounds may have guests, but the total number of people at any outdoor gathering should not exceed 100. Guests of residents - if the caravan park or camping ground is a person’s place of residence they may have up to 50 guests to their residence at any one time.

COVID-19 Safety Plans and Electronic Record keeping is mandatory for pools, caravan parks and indoor and outdoor sporting events. The NSW Government strongly recommends the Service NSW QR Code.

Community Halls Capacity must not exceed one customer per 2sqm. The density limit does not apply if there are 25 customers or less at the premises. Children count towards the capacity limit. Record keeping/sign in rules continue to apply. Organisers must complete their own COVID-19 Safety Plan for the event upon hire. Visitor Information Centre Capacity increased to 16 people. Sign-in is electronic as mandated under the Public Health Order. Sanitising and social distancing still applies. Customer Service Capacity increased to six people in the foyer. Office hours are 9am-4.30pm. Daily cleaning and wiping down of all touch services. Library Capacity increased from 50 people to 100 people. No limits on people attending programs providing social distancing can be maintained. Under the 2sqm rule, a review of relaunching the Mobile Library Service is underway for the New Year. All public computer terminals are now available for use. Programs are starting to be reintroduced – Storytime, TechConnect and School Holiday activities are operational. All returned materials continue to be quarantined for a period of 24 hours.  Record keeping/sign in rules continue to apply.
