Wollondilly Mayor Robert Khan has welcomed the announcement of funding for projects at Remembrance Driveway, Tahmoor and Appin Road, Appin through the Australian and NSW Government Safer Roads Program.
Mayor Khan said, “Council is delighted to receive this funding which will increase the safety of drivers and pedestrians in the Wollondilly Shire.”
“Council had applied for the funding at Remembrance Driveway, Tahmoor with the aim of improving pedestrian safety on this increasingly busy stretch of road.”
“We are currently working with Transport for NSW to achieve the best design option for these much needed pedestrian facilities.”
“I am also pleased to hear that money will be spent on a roundabout at Appin Road, with the speed limit reduced 20km/h.”
“Appin Road is under the care and control of TfNSW. It is unfortunately a road with a history of serious accidents, so this funding should help make it safer for road users,” he said.
“At the end of a difficult year, it is encouraging to see the State and Federal Government investing in our local area.”
