Survey encourages people to shape future library services and more

The Central Highlands’ libraries are carrying out a survey and want to hear what people think of the libraries inside and out.

General Manager Communities John McDougall said the survey was an easy way for people to have an input and provide feedback on the region’s library service.

‘From the facilities themselves to the services our libraries offer, and how they’re offered, we would like to know what people think,’ Mr McDougall said.

‘You don’t have to be a regular library visitor; in fact, you don’t have to be a library visitor at all to take part in the survey.’

He said the variety of voices counted as the libraries provided so many different services.

‘Our libraries are for everyone and the survey reflects those many aspects of a modern library, without being too long of course, from the facilities to community partnerships we have or do not have established yet.

‘Each section offers a suggestion box where we welcome peoples’ ideas and suggestions.’

Mr McDougall said the previous survey received many responses.

‘In 2018, we received more than 600 responses and we’d like to think we can top that, particularly after a year where our libraries had to change their usual service delivery.’

The survey is open to anyone in the Central Highlands between 7 December 2020 and 12 February 2021. The information collected will be used to develop an updated Library Strategy and Action Plan.

It can be accessed online via the council’s engagement platform Have Your Say. Paper copies are also available at the local libraries where staff can assist with the completion of the survey.
