It’s fair to say the love of Netball on the Beaches is second-to-none with over 5,500 active players.

Council will kick off, or shall we say take a shot at, revamping the well-used netball courts at Abbott Road North Curl Curl this week.

As the courts were built on an old tip, Council has always monitored the site due to the potential for movement and cracking of the surface. Given the previous revamp was 10 years ago, it’s certainly time for a little love.

Of the 25 courts at the site, nine will be pulled up with new bitumen laid. The remaining 16 courts will be resurfaced with the Plexipave sports surfacing system.

New adjustable net posts will also be installed on the nine new courts which will cater to both junior and senior training and competitions.

The upgrade is expected to take a couple of months but will be completed for use for pre-season training and the 2021 winter season.

The Curl Curl courts will complement the four new outdoor multipurpose courts just completed on Boondah Rd in Warriewood, as well as the two hardcourts at Avalon Beach Reserve completed in September, and six courts at Forestville War Memorial Playing Fields, and another six at Lionel Watts Reserve, Belrose, completed in 2018.
