Cattle came from a large area of central and western Queensland with half the yard from the far west.
With most processors close to finished for the year, competition on prime cattle was restricted.
However light weight yearling steers and heifers continued the improvement of recent sales to register 18c to 33c/kg increases.
Light weight yearling steers under 200kg made to 631c to restockers and averaged 599c/kg. The major run of yearling steers under 280kg reached 599c to average 534c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 330kg to restockers sold to a top of 519c to average 491c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers over 400kg to feed averaged 395c with a 417c/kg top.
Under 200kg light weight yearling heifers made to 591c to average 574c/kg. A large sample of yearling heifers under 280kg averaged 491c to restockers and topped at 529c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers, under 330kg sold to 475c and averaged 462c/kg to restockers for best bred pens. Yearling heifers from 330 to 400kg averaged 385c/kg to feed.
There was only a light yarding of grown steers with the majority going to feed to average from 341c to 385c/kg relative to breeding. Grown heifers to feed sold to 362c and averaged 310c to 338c/kg. Those to the trade reached 359c to average 336c/kg. Heavy weight processor cows averaged 262c/kg, well back on last sale. The 2 score cows averaged 282c/kg for most to feed.
Heavy weight bulls sold to an easier market, averaging 282c and sold to 322c/kg. The better- bred cows and calves sold from $1,750 to $2,600 per unit.
