New Emergency Website for Coffs Harbour Community

The recent bad weather and last year’s bushfires are behind the implementation of a new online ‘Disaster Dashboard’ that will complement the emergency information platforms already provided by Coffs Harbour City Council to assist the community prepare for and respond to local emergencies.
“Localised emergency updates, preparedness advice and seasonal awareness of potential risks is more important than ever,” said Mick Raby, Council’s Director Sustainable Infrastructure and Local Emergency Management Officer for the Coffs Harbour region.
“We’re all acutely aware of the impact emergencies can potentially have on our community following the past bushfire season, recent flooding rain and other severe hazards and we have a range of platforms in place to assist people navigate emergency situations.
“The MyRoadInfo app and website is always well-used as an information source during floods, as is our website with its links to relevant emergency services.
“The new platform will incorporate those same local links, but in addition it also provides information on how to prepare for emergencies and resources to help people recover from a disaster.
“There’s a lot of information to digest so I would recommend allocating a bit of time to explore all the areas within the dashboard. You can’t break it so click away. Having a level of familiarisation and understanding will be helpful to people when, or if, they need to use it,” he said.
The Coffs Harbour Disaster Dashboard is an online warehouse of real-time, local emergency information supported by Resilience NSW’s Regional Disaster Preparedness Program that has been rolled out to 27 pilot councils across the state.
On each Dashboard you will find:
real-time information related to live emergencies; information to help you prepare for an emergency; and guidance on the assistance you can access to recover from a recent emergency.The Regional Disaster Preparedness Program, coordinated by Resilience NSW, works with local councils to build their knowledge of disaster risks and their ability to respond in an emergency.
The local Dashboards deliver information specific to the disaster risks and mitigations of localities in each pilot area and provide a broad and consistent view of data from across the 27 pilot councils in the Canberra, Hunter and Mid North Coast regions.
