Boulia Shire Council 21 Dec 2020

news, local-news,

Santa may be coming but so are Mount Isa District police and as part of their Christmas road safety campaign, police will be increasing their presence on North West Star Queensland roads and enforcement of the Fatal Five. That means enforcement activities around speeding, drink/drug driving, seatbelt use, distraction and fatigue. Police throughout the Mount Isa District will be out and about on our roads this festive season, ensuring all drivers obey the road rules and drive to the conditions of the roads. Officers from Mount Isa Police will be out in force performing roadside breath tests, monitoring speeding and ensuring that drivers and passengers are wearing seatbelts to ensure that all road users make it to their destinations safely. Boulia Police wish to highlight that fatigue is a major contributor to crashes, especially in rural and remote areas. "This festive season when you are travelling with your loved ones or to visit your loved ones, take the time to stop, get out of your car, stretch your legs and explore the small towns you travel through," Boulia police said. "We have so many great places to get a memorable photo - just like in Boulia with Santa and his six white roos welcoming visitors to town."
