Shire of Ashburton pledges support for Karijini Experience 2021
Shire of Ashburton 22 Dec 2020

Shire of Ashburton Council have committed to the 2021 Karijini Experience as the stand-alone Principal Sponsor, recognising the significant opportunity to showcase the Ashburton locality.

Shire President Kerry White said that she was pleased the Karijini Experience would return in 2021 given the event’s cancellation due to the coronavirus health pandemic in 2020.

“The Karijini Experience is a hallmark event for our Ashburton region, and one that highlights the unique arts and cultural community within our Shire and broader Pilbara region” said Councillor White.

“Council recognise the importance of tourism to our Shire as a diverse and sustainable industry and the Karijini Experience, as one of the esteemed events in the region, showcases our distinctive tourism offering to a local, intrastate and interstate audience.

“The festival acknowledges and works with the Banjima people in a respectful manner with positive outcomes for the community and supporting the traditional owners culture and values on a regional stage.

“Karijini National Park is a treasure within our Shire and the festival is a celebration that provides a diverse and inclusive program of authentic, high-quality arts, culture, music and food experiences.

“The event also offers visitors the opportunity to take in other tourism attractions while in our region including the rugged Millstream Chichester National Park, the historical Old Onslow site and the Mackerel Islands off the coast of Onslow, as well as exploring neighbouring Pilbara towns and attractions.

“We look forward to the 2021 event and working with the Nintirri Centre Inc. to continue the success of the Karijini Experience”.
