The City of Swan is paving the way for the construction of Stock Road which will transform Bullsbrook into a booming industrial hub.
The Bullsbrook Developer Contribution Plan (DCP) was gazetted in December, allowing the City to start construction in 2021 on the much needed connection between Tonkin and Great Northern Highways.
The DCP is an agreement between the City and land developers to share costs for specified infrastructure, meaning ratepayers do not bear the burden of constructing new roads and bridges within the precinct
City of Swan Mayor Kevin Bailey said this is a huge win for the City of Swan community and is one of the most comprehensive DCPs the City has ever undertaken.
"The project can now become a reality, with the DCP to combine with the Federal Government's $14.79 million commitment to fund the construction phase of the project," he said.
"Stock Road will connect Great Northern Highway with the newly opened Tonkin Highway, will significantly cut travel times for residents in Bullsbrook and beyond, providing a new road link to enable heavy haulage and oversize loaded trucks to bypass around the Bullsbrook townsite."
This improved access will open up significant new opportunities for industrial and commercial developments in the area.
Planning and preliminary work is currently underway, with road construction anticipated to commence next year.
