Eight community groups have shared in almost $9000 in funding as part of the Shire of Augusta Margaret River’s final round of Easy Grants.
The funds were part of the 2020-21 Community Development and Events Grants, which offered grants up to $2000 for projects and events fostering community resilience, connection and wellbeing. “This was our third and last round of Easy Grants for 2020 and we’re glad to once again be helping out a range of great initiatives,” Shire Manager Community Planning and Development Jason Cleary said.
The Easy Grants will support Yeah the Boyz indigenous basketball team ($2000), enable Margaret River Boardriders Club Inc to purchase five tablets and a priority board ($1000), contribute to Augusta Yacht Club’s new boat trailer for the support/rescue boat ($1000) and allow Margaret River Baptist Craft Group to purchase new chairs to support mobility issues ($604.98). Events funded include the Rotary Club of Margaret River Inc’s Community Walk ($2000), Witchcliffe Progress Association Inc’s Witchcliffe 2020 Gathering ($250) and Augusta Chamber of Commerce’s Augusta Community Christmas Carols ($2000). Priorities in funding allocations included the purchase of equipment up to $1000, professional development for volunteers, minor events or activations encouraging participation or connection, and neighbourhood projects or events.
