Public Exhibition of Litter and Illegal Dumping Strategy 2020-2025

Published on 24 December 2020

Mildura Rural City Council’s Litter and Illegal Dumping Strategy has recently been developed in draft form and is now available for public comment until 19 February 2021.

Effective and sustainable litter and illegal dumping services are very important to help protect and preserve our local environment and contribute to the community’s overall health and wellbeing. The strategy will guide Council’s provision and future management of litter and illegal dumping and will contribute to the achievement of the community vision to be ‘the most liveable, people-friendly community in Australia.’

The draft strategy is structured around five key priorities: 1) Supporting our community to reduce litter; 2) Education, behaviour change and partnerships; 3) Sustainable litter prevention infrastructure; 4) Compliance for a litter free municipality and 5) Monitoring, evaluation and reporting.

The draft strategy and supporting documents have been informed and developed in collaboration with the community, key stakeholders and Council.

Written comments on the Draft Litter and Illegal Dumping Strategy are invited and encouraged. Ideas, comments or concerns can be emailed to [email protected] or posted to Emily Quinn Smyth, Waste Education and Project Officer, Mildura Rural City Council, PO Box 105, Mildura VIC 3502.
