Council is pleased to advise of their success in the recent Assessment Contact undertaken by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission at Yallambee Lodge in Cooma.

Due to the dedication and hard work of the frontline workforce and sound planning from Council’s leadership team at Yallambee, the December 2020 inspection by the Commission resulted in all requirements being assessed as “met”.

Yallambee is now both accredited and assessed by the Commission as being fully compliant against all standards.

This is significant as the last time Yallambee was fully compliant, against the old standards, was in mid-2019. This too was the result of the hard work of the team to lift from several areas of non-compliance in a November 2018 inspection to achieve full compliance in 2019.

The introduction of new standards in 2019 did result in a setback in terms of “non-compliance”, in the March 2020 inspection, as services were aligned to the new standards. Full compliance has now been achieved. The current compliance result is a significant vote of confidence from the Commission that Yallambee Lodge is delivering services to a level that is expected by the Commission and against the standards.

Over the course of 2020, the Commission undertook several inspections at Yallambee. The initial inspection of Yallambee in March 2020 resulted in 11 of 42 requirements (standards) noted as “not met”.

The July 2020 inspection resulted in a reduction to four as ‘not met’ of the 42 requirements with Council working to ensure those remaining non-compliant requirements were the focus of Yallambee’s plan for continuous improvement.
