Face masks to be worn inside Council facilities, due to COVID-19

If you live in the Greater Sydney Area which includes the Blue Mountains, it is now mandatory to wear a face mask indoors at facilities where goods and services are provided directly to members of the public.

Face masks must be worn as a condition of entry at the following Council locations: Council Customer Service and Service NSW centre (Katoomba), Libraries, Leisure and Aquatic Centres, Visitor Information Centres, Blue Mountains Cultural Centre and the Blue Mountains Theatre and Hub.

If customers do not have a mask they are advised to first call the facility they wish to visit beforehand.

Mayor Mark Greenhill said, “This is not easy, but the safety of people comes before everything. Please wear your masks when advised to do so and when using Council facilities.

Wearing a mask will help in continuing to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our community and staff”.

Under the public health order, a "fitted face covering" means a mask or other covering that fits securely around the face, and is designed or made to be worn over the nose and mouth to provide the wearer with protection against infection. Please note that children under 12 are exempt but are encouraged to wear masks where practicable.

Council is encouraging the community to use its online services, as much as possible during this period.
