In an early win for the Moree Plains in 2021, the Development Application for the redevelopment of office premises for Trans4m Rail has been approved.
Trans4m Rail have leased three existing premises on Balo Street (the former Moree Pharmacy and M&G Travel sites) to provide nearly 900 square metres for its office operations. A Development Application was lodged with Council just prior to Christmas.
With Trans4m Rail appointed head contractor for Phase 1 of the Narrabri to North Star section of the Inland Rail, the premises are expected to be occupied by the Trans4m Rail team for at least three years.
Council’s Acting General Manager Alan Lawrance was delighted with the quick assessment of the Development Application over the festive season, “We are very pleased to announce that the assessment of this DA has been completed and approved to allow Trans4m Rail to commence its half million dollar renovation of its leased sites in Moree’s CBD.
Mayor Katrina Humphries welcomed the news, noting that Council’s strong relationship with ARTC and its contractors (including Trans4m Rail) had been built over many years and citing this as yet another example of the dividends now flowing to the Plains.
“It is wonderful to see the head contractor for this section of the project being based in Moree. The economic benefits that this will deliver for our community cannot be understated.
“We’re seeing this in 3 shops in Balo Street being leased for a considerable period of time and a substantial renovation about to be undertaken. We’re playing our role in this and I am extremely proud of the promptness displayed by our Planning team in this assessment process.
“Make no mistake, the Moree Plains is very much open for business,” said Mayor Humphries.
It is anticipated that the renovation of Trans4m Rail’s office premises will commence very soon.
