We have enjoyed a great summer so far and we expect that to continue. As a Council, we continue to work with local businesses and health authorities to ensure we stay open, allow families to enjoy their planned East Gippsland holiday, and in turn support our region.
Our work with local tourism operators indicates a positivity about the remainder of the summer holiday season. There’s no reason for anyone to be cancelling travel plans to East Gippsland as a result of recent media reports about a small number of COVID exposure sites. The businesses who had been listed as exposure sites have re-opened or are preparing to re-open – this is great news.
Council has remained agile for months in supporting our community through the pandemic and that will continue, though the provision of our own services or supporting businesses.
We ask that social distancing and good hand hygiene be practised, and face masks worn, in line with health directives. These simple steps help us stay open.
Remember, the DHHS website is the best source of information for details on the latest COVID-19 requirements, exposure sites and testing.
