Kyneton Town Hall’s creative school holiday program, KTH Kids presents, Windcrafting, an immersive play experience combining art, science and design to explore the creative potential of wind power.
Working alongside artists Jo Mott and Sandra Long, within a covid-safe environment, children will make their own wind toys to take home. Using a mix of recycled and found materials in their creation, children are encouraged to get involved in this fun and hands-on workshop.
The artists will lead participants through the process of making and decorating a range of wind toys such as twirlers, spinners, pinwheels, swallows, eagles, fantails and more. There are also pre-made toys and sculptural elements available for children to use in their works - inspiring imaginations to soar.
Director Planning and Environment, Angela Hughes said the KTH Kids program engages local children in quality, innovative and educational ways, with activities to keep young minds thinking, creating and connecting.
“Windcrafting provides hands-on activities and play experiences that develop curiosity, active thinking and communication skills in young children, as well as lasting memories.”
Aimed at children of primary school age, younger children are also welcome to participate with some assistance from their parent/guardian.
Participants need to register in advance via the online ticketing platform and pay a $12.50 workshop fee. All materials are included in the workshop.
