Council and Cooma Lions Club commence more works at Norris Park

The Cooma community will soon have access to an inclusive pathway through Norris Park thanks to the volunteers of the Cooma Lions Club.
In addition to providing the funding, Cooma Lions Club members are dedicating their time and resources to complete the construction which commences today and will continue for a number of weeks.
Construction will also include a wheelchair-friendly ramp and parking space, and the team will work with Council’s civic maintenance team to ensure that any turf removed is reused to help rejuvenate bare patches within Centennial Park. One tree will be impacted by this work and it has been assessed as suitable for relocation.
“We are very grateful to the Cooma Lions Club for the work they are undertaking at Norris Park” said Mayor Peter Beer.
“Through their generosity we are able to continue to ensure that our public spaces are accessible to all members of our community.”
Additional grant-funded updates to the Cooma Creek shared pathway will also begin this week.
Council teams will be focused on improving the ramp to the Norris Park accessible toilet and establishing a link footpath to the Lions Club funded pathway.
There will be heavy machinery and works actively in progress across both sites and Council apologises to the community in advance for any inconvenience.
