Join in a community event on Australia Day

Come together with family and friends at one of the many outdoor community events happening on Tuesday 26 January.

Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony

You are invited to celebrate our unsung heroes and newest citizens at the Macedon Ranges Shire Council’s Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony, to be held at 10.30am at the Old Market Shed, Kyneton Botanic Gardens. If the weather is deemed inclement, the event will be moved to the Kyneton Town Hall. 

All ticket holders will be notified if the event is relocated. Due to COVID-Safe conditions, numbers will be capped at 100 people, and attendees will need to reserve a ticket. Further information and bookings for the event can be made by visiting our Australia Day page.

Free entry to outdoor pools 

Get along to the Lancefield and Woodend outdoor pools and enjoy free entry with inflatable fun from 12.30pm–2.30pm. Please note the outdoor pools’ opening hours are determined according to the Bureau of Meteorology temperature forecasts for Kyneton. Visit our outdoor pools page for more information.

Hanging Rock races move to Kyneton

Hanging Rock's annual Australia Day race meeting will move to Kyneton. A range of race-day packages, including public lawn seating under an umbrella for groups of five and 10 people, grandstand seating and dining room viewing are available. 

Please note that due to COVID-19 restrictions, limited ticketing is available and this event is capped at 1,000 persons. To secure your spot make sure you must pre-book. Gates open at 11am. For further information, visit the event website or call 1300 139 402.

Township celebrations Australia Day breakfast in Tylden 

Come along and enjoy a delicious breakfast from 8.30am to 10.30am at the Tylden Hall and Reserve, Tylden Park playground and barbecue area.

Australia Day celebrations in Gisborne  

The GREAT Association is hosting a flag raising ceremony along with tributes from local Members of Parliament and Councillors from 9am at the barbecue rotunda at John Aitken Reserve, Aitken Street.

Film night in Baynton 

Join the Baynton Hall Committee from 5.30pm at the Baynton Hall and enjoy a night under the stars with a barbecue, the Baynton Gift—a foot race for all abilities, and sing the national anthem.
