Lachlan Shire Council is pleased to welcome the first of our two Bush Bursary medical students Abigail Slater.
Abigail is completing a two-week placement hosted by Lachlan Shire Council. This involves working with local nurses, visiting specialists, observing general practitioners, a day with Leonie Parker, visiting hospitals throughout the Lachlan Shire and much more.
Abigail is a medical student from The Australian National University. If you see Abigail whilst she is here, please make her feel welcome.
Council would like to thank Warren Frost at the Condobolin Aboriginal Health Service, who has put a lot of effort towards organising Abigail’s placement along with all the organisations who have taken, or will be taking, the Bush Bursary students.
The NSW Rural Doctors Network’s Bush Bursary program is important to showcase our area to students with the longer-term aim to attract and retain medical and allied health professionals to our community.
Bursary recipients spend two weeks on a rural placement in country NSW during their university holidays.
The Bush Bursary visit has been funded by Lachlan Shire Council with support from the Country Women's Association of NSW.
