Queenscliff SLSC to get a new lease on life

Works have begun this week to transform Queenscliff Surf Life Saving Club into a more functional and welcoming space for its members and the wider community.

The Club, in partnership with Council, have been working for many years to get the balance right and make sure the club is both functional and viable for years to come.  

The almost $1 million in renovations include:

A new public hall and balcony to take in the stunning ocean viewsA new accessible toiletA new lift and lift lobby to improve accessibility accessRelocated club facilitiesRe-tiling, new stair balustrades, landings and corridors to improve compliance with building codes and accessibility requirementsAdditional stairs to allow separation between club member areas and public areasGeneral painting.

The works are expected to be completed in May. Public amenities at the south end of the building will not be affected by the construction and access along public paths will be maintained.

Funding for this project is from Council's Surf Life Saving Club Minor Works Program. Queenscliff Surf Life Saving Club secured grants totally $400,000, Council secured a grant for $150,000 and the remaining $500,000 will come from Council reserves.
