Wyndham’s feel-good music series Morning Melodies will resume live performances following a 2020 hiatus due to COVID-19 restrictions.
On Tuesday, 9 February, residents can come along to see ‘The Broadway I Love’ performed live at Encore Events Centre.
‘The Broadway I Love’ is the series opening event of the year and stars Australian Tenor Roy Best and International Soprano Alison Jones. Best has recorded for ABC Classics, been a guest soloist for the Australian Pops Orchestra and sung leading roles with Opera Australia. Jones has held leading roles on the West End of London.
Rediscover hits and highlights from Rodgers and Hammerstein, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Leonard Bernstein plus musical numbers from Les Miserables, Phantom, and Cats.
‘The Broadway I Love’ will be narrated and compared by Australian icon Christopher McKenna with William Schmidt at the piano.
Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Adele Hegedich, said Council was thrilled to be able to recommence live performances for the much-loved music series.
“We’re delighted to open the doors of Encore Events Centre again to welcome residents back for a special Broadway edition of Morning Melodies,” she said.
“Encore is a safe, accessible venue with plenty of parking and all COVID regulations taken seriously.”
“We encourage residents to consider coming along using active modes of transport. Discover Wyndham’s many walking and bike paths and available bike parking at the centre.”
Creative City Portfolio Holder, Cr Marcel Mahfoud added: “Due to COVID-19 restrictions in place last year, the monthly event could not proceed,” he said.
“Council adapted and changed the delivery of Morning Melodies to online in the second half of last year.”
“We’re excited to resume live performances of Morning Melodies for residents to enjoy.”
Tickets go on sale Friday 22 January and are $12 (morning tea included). Tickets can be purchased online (see website below) or in person at Encore Events Centre (card only).
