Southern Midlands Councils has a small team (approximately 50 FTE) of people who work with the General Manager in providing services to the Community of the Southern Midlands local government area. To provide the best value in performing the required roles and responsibilities for our Community, this team comprises the following mixture of labour engagement methods, full time employment, part time, permanent part time, casual, contract, along with resource sharing with other local authorities. From time to time vacancies do arise within the team and advertisements are placed in the Tasmanian Mercury , under Classifieds and Positions section, with position descriptions and associated documents being placed on this web site.
MANAGER INFRASTRUCTURE & WORKS (RE-ADVERTISED) Applications are invited for the position of Manager Infrastructure & Works based at the Municipal Offices Oatlands. This is a full-time permanent position. The successful applicant will need to have demonstrated skills, knowledge & experience in the roles and tasks identified within the position description. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT /RECREATION OFFICERPERMANENT PART TIME (3 DAYS PER WEEK) Applications are invited for the position of Community Development / Recreation Officer, which is part of the Community & Corporate Development business unit, based at the Municipal Offices, Kempton. The primary responsibility of this position is to contribute towards creating a vibrant and enriched southern midlands community through researching, developing and implementing community development / recreation programs, services as well as events. MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEE - TRUCK DRIVER - GENERAL MAINTENANCE & CONSTRUCTION Applications are invited for the position of Municipal Employee (Truck Driver General Maintenance & Construction) with Southern Midlands Council. This is a full time permanent position based at the Municipal Depot Kempton. The successful applicant will need to have demonstrated skills, knowledge & experience in the roles and tasks identified within the position description. The respective salaries will be negotiated with the successful applicants based on skills, knowledge experience and qualifications in accordance with Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
