Mr Cory commenced construction works this week, promising to pass on his good fortune by exclusively using local subcontractors to assist him in completing the job.
“I want to match Trans4m Rails commitment to supporting local businesses by engaging other home-grown tradesmen to help me complete this project”, said Mr Cory.
“Our local economy has the opportunity to thrive from Inland Rail construction if jobs like this are shared exclusively among our local businesses.
“I feel very fortunate to be awarded the contract and am looking forward to seeing what the future holds with Inland Rail in our community”, said Mr Cory.
The three vacant shops along Balo Street are currently being renovated into 886 square metres of office space which will house Trans4m Rail employees for the duration of the Narrabri to North Star Phase 1 construction.
“These are really exciting times for our community, I think everyone should be trying to get their piece of the action”, said Mayor Humphries.
“This is only early days and we can already see the benefits Inland Rail is bringing to our town, the CBD will be bustling with activity with a number of new workers set to move into the Balo Street office space after the renovations have been completed.
“It’s exciting to see local faces on the job so early in the game, and it’s a good sign for things to come”, said Mayor Humphries.
To ensure the customer parking along the CBD is not inundated, Trans4m Rail employees will have a designated car park.
