The redevelopment of Cohuna’s skate park will begin on Tuesday, 2 February, with the facility to be closed to enable improvements to occur.
Located at Apex Park, Council worked with the community during 2018 and 2019 to determine what features users would like incorporated, with the rejuvenated park to double in size.
“It is exciting to see these works begin, which are a result of the dedicated advocacy by many of the facility’s users,” Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.
“The redevelopment of the Cohuna Skate Park will complement the rejuvenation of Apex Park, providing another attraction residents can be proud of.”
The redeveloped skate park will incorporate the current facility, with additional ramps, railings and riding areas to cater for skateboarders, BMX riders and scooter users of all skill levels. Other features include new paths, open space, play areas and seating.
“This project is made possible thanks to a $250,000 grant from Sport and Recreation Victoria’s Local Sport Infrastructure Fund, which Council is grateful for,” Mr O’Reilly said.
“Council thanks residents and skate park users for their understanding as these works occur and looks forward to the completion of the redevelopment by the end of April.”
