An eye-catching collection of 40 textile works are making their way to Moranbah’s Coalface Art Gallery for a six-week exhibition.
The Coalface Art Gallery will host the touring exhibition Vision 2020, an assortment of diverse works featuring artists from Australia, New Zealand, USA, Lithuania, Sweden and the United Kingdom curated by Brenda Gael Smith from Copacabana, NSW.
From dreams to vistas, anatomical studies to optical illusions, the exhibition explores the theme of “vision” from different angles, highlighting the importance of eye health and vision care, especially for a vibrant creative life.
Isaac Regional Council Mayor Anne Baker said the Isaac region has a passion for textile arts and encourages everyone interested to see the exhibition.
“Our region is fortunate to have a number of textile groups, including We’re Sewing Outback, Clermont Patchwork and Quilters, Flaggy Rock Quilters and Ilbilbie Craft Group to name a few.
“Vision 2020 will not only be of interest to our textile groups, but to anyone who appreciates eye catching artworks and understands the importance of vision”.
Mayor Baker said after the exhibition leaves the Isaac, it will continue on tour around Australia, including Melbourne’s Australasian Quilt Convention.
“We have snagged a highly commended exhibition for our great gallery, and I urge people to view this exhibition while it is in our neck of the woods.”
The Vision 2020 Exhibition will run from 1 February to 19 March 2021 at Coalface Art Gallery from Monday to Friday between 8.30am to 5pm.
Vision 2020 is Brenda’s fourth touring exhibition. It will build upon the success of her “A Matter of Time” exhibition which was displayed in the Coalface Art Gallery and Dysart Artspace between May and June 2017.
