Perth Lockdown – Shire of York Community Information

The State Government has implemented a 5-day lockdown for the Perth metropolitan area, the Peel and South West regions effective at 6pm, Sunday 31 January 2021 until 6pm Friday, 5 February 2021.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YORK RESIDENTS?

Even though we are not in lockdown, we should remain diligent of our COVID safety practices and remain calm and considerate of one another.

YORK BUSINESSES

It’s business as usual in York unless further restrictions are imposed.   Business must maintain hygiene and contact tracing requirements.

SHIRE FACILITITES

All facilities including the YRCC, Gym, Swimming Pool, Library and Visitor Centre remain open as usual.  Increased cleaning regimes and contact tracing requirements remain in place.

EVENTS

At this point, events scheduled for York are going ahead.  All events require a COVID Safety Plan.

MASKS

Shire of York staff will be wearing masks when indoors as a precautionary measure ONLY. This is above and beyond the current Government requirements and York residents are not required to wear masks at this stage. MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS

If you have a medical appointment in Perth please contact your provider prior to travel. Elective surgery and procedures for categories 2 and 3 will be suspended from Tuesday, 2 February. Category 1 and urgent category 2 surgery will continue.  You may enter Perth only for access to essential health and emergency services.

SafeWA

To assist businesses, the WA Government has developed a free app, SafeWA, which is a digital contact register system. SafeWA is an efficient and safe way to record patron and visitor contact details where they can check-in using the app. The use of this app is not mandatory, but it is encouraged.

PERTH LOCKDOWN INFORMATION

The following restrictions apply in the Perth metropolitan area, the Peel and South West regions for the lockdown period:

People should not leave Perth, Peel or the South West during this period People can enter Perth, Peel or the South West only to access or deliver essential health and emergency services and other essential requirements Non-residents currently in Perth, Peel and the South West are required to remain until the end of the restriction period however if you must leave for serious reasons you are to then return home immediately, stay home and get tested if symptoms develop Restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars in the lock down region to provide takeaway service only Elective surgery and procedures for categories 2 and 3 will be suspended from Tuesday, 2 February. Category 1 and urgent category 2 surgery will continue No visitors will be allowed in homes in the lock down region unless caring for a vulnerable person or in an emergency No visitors to hospitals or residential aged care and/or disability facilities in the lock down region No weddings permitted in the lock down region Funerals are limited to 10 people in the lock down region Travel remains prohibited within remote Aboriginal communities.
