An out of control bushfire is quickly spreading through the City of Swan, including Ellenbrook, Gidgegannup, Swan Valley and surrounds.
The situation is evolving quickly, please visit www.emergency.wa.gov.au for the most up-to-date information.
If you are in the path of the fire, or affected by smoke and ash at your home, go to the closest evacuation centre and wear a mask.
City of Swan Mayor Kevin Bailey said firefighters, aerial crews, volunteers and other emergency personnel are on the scene.
"Thank you to everyone on the ground for working so hard to keep our community safe throughout the evening and today," he said.
This morning, the City's Swan Active Midland facility opened as a secondary evacuation centre.
If you have been personally directed to self-isolate or quarantine due to COVID-19, please try and find alternative suitable premises and wear a mask.
If this is not possible, go to the evacuation centre and identify yourself to centre staff immediately on arrival.
Continue to follow COVID-19 precautions and maintain appropriate physical distancing.
Please take any essential items such as medications and identification to the evacuation centre.
Please visit emergency.wa.gov.au for the most up to date information on what to do and where to go.
"We are a strong and resilient community, and we will get through this. Please stay safe and remember to wear a mask," said Mayor Bailey.
Pets, except recognised assistance animals, are not allowed inside evacuation centres for health and safety reasons, so you should make alternative arrangements for them.
If this is not possible, please still proceed to the evacuation centre with your pets and await further advice.
END.
