In a win for the Bayside community and beachgoers beyond our municipal borders, the Victorian Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal against a 2019 VCAT decision to grant a planning permit for the Dendy Street Beach Pavilion redevelopment.

Bayside Mayor Laurence Evans OAM welcomed the decision which clears the way for a new fit-for-purpose pavilion at the iconic Dendy Street Beach, providing a new home for the Brighton Life Saving Club and new facilities for residents and visitors.

“After more than four years of delays, this is a very welcome outcome. We can all look forward to a new modern, fit for purpose facility that will serve the community for many years to come,” Cr Evans said.

“Ultimately, Council just wants to improve the visitor experience of this iconic precinct and provide upgraded facilities for the Brighton Life Saving Club and community.”

The pavilion redevelopment will provide a number of upgrades including, addressing unsightly storm water outfall, car parking, toilets, access paths and a new café.
