Blackwater skatepark construction starts later this month

Construction of the Blackwater skatepark is set to begin in late February. The date and final construction plans were revealed to Community Reference Group members this week.

The group reinforced the anticipation and that it was a great asset to the community.

Slight changes from the initial concept includes extended shade shelters, additional seating and wider footpath areas.

The tender was awarded to Queensland-based specialist skatepark builder VFG Skateparks Pty Ltd.

The Queensland Government provided $1.0 million to Central Highlands Regional Council to the Blackwater skatepark to enable Queenslanders to participate in sport and recreation activities. Council’s capital budget funds the remaining $450,000.
