Northern Beaches’ War on Waste

There’s no better time of year than Clean Up Australia Day to come together as a community, don a pair of gloves and clean up litter from our beautiful beaches, waterways and parks.

2020 was a year like no other, where restaurants were reduced to takeaways and single-use items like masks and sanitised wipes became the norm.

With a third of Aussies reporting that they had created more waste than in any other year – let’s ensure we make this Clean Up Day even bigger!

Last year’s effort was inspiring. Together, we helped to clean up 96 separate sites across the Northern Beaches, including 48 sites in the general community, 18 sites cleaned by high schools and youth groups, seven businesses caring for their local areas and 23 primary schools and pre-schools participating.

Registrations are now open to register a site or volunteer at a registered Northern Beaches site near you.

There are three Clean Up Australia Day events. If you’re a business owner, teacher or school student, there’s an opportunity for you also to get involved:

Over the last 30 years, Clean Up Australia Day volunteers have donated more than 36 million hours, at over 181,000 locations across the country. Together they have removed the equivalent of 380,000 tonnes of rubbish across Australia.*
