Ruse residents will soon be able to enjoy a modern upgrade to the play space at Cook Reserve.

Mayor George Brticevic said the new playground would be a substantial improvement for Cook Reserve.

“This new playground is going to be a magnificent place for parents, grandparents and carers to bring the kids down during an afternoon or weekend and enjoy a picnic,” Cr Brticevic said.

“Providing kids with access to somewhere where they can play in a modern and safe environment is a key part of our State of Play strategy which guides the development of new parks across our city,” he said.

“Cook Reserve will complement a number of upgraded or new parks recently opened or set to be completed in the coming months.”

Works have now started to build the new play space which will include:

Updated play equipment Inclusive swing set Picnic seats and shelters New barbeque facility Sandstone block seats Shade sails Exercise equipment Tree plantings Accessible toilet facility.

The park was designed following consultation with the Ruse community and incorporated feedback from residents.

The revamped park is expected to open in April.
