Ed Gym back for Term 1

Ed Gym is back in Camperdown and Terang for Term 1, after being delivered online for most of last year due to COVID.

Two sessions are available each Wednesday (9:15 am and 10:30 am) at the Theatre Royal in Camperdown, while one session will be run each Thursday (9:30 am) at the Terang Stadium.

Ed Gym is an active and structured gymnastics-based program for pre-schoolers that aims to provide an exciting and fun-filled experience for all participants.

Corangamite Shire Sports and Recreation Coordinator Jane Hinds said the program started last week.

“It was great to see lots of new faces and there seems to be a whole new younger generation of participants.”

“It is a very flexible program. Parents are welcome to turn up, no bookings required.”

She added that Ed Gym was suited to children as young as one year through to kindergarten.

“For parents who like routine, Ed Gym is a great activity to pencil into the diary each week.”

Ed Gym helps to build confidence in young children by introducing them to social interaction and letting them test their physical limits.

Ms Hinds said the body awareness, balance, coordination and motor skills children develop at Ed Gym can start them on the way to other sports.

“There are also the social and health benefits that an active, social lifestyle creates,” she added.

Ed Gym classes are held during school term. Fees per class are $5.90 for one child, $10.70 for two children and $14.30 for three children from the same family.

Term passes are available at a discounted price at the classes and the Civic Centre, 181 Manifold Street, Camperdown.
