International Women’s Day is a major day of global celebration for the economic, political and social achievements of women.
Burnie City Council invites the community to come together on International Women’s Day to celebrate and promote the contribution of Tasmanian women to their communities.
An International Women’s Day Luncheon will be held from 12 noon to 1.30pm on Friday 12 March 2021 at the Burnie Arts & Function Centre.
This years’ luncheon will bring together Master of Ceremonies - Councillor Amina Keygan in conversation with Hayley Elmer, Melanie Bartlett and Samantha Boarder.
Hayley is the Nursing Director Operations Management at the North West Regional Hospital and has worked in the health industry for almost 20 years. Melanie Bartlett is a Lawyer and a Retired Magistrate. Samantha Boarder is the Manager People and Safety at Burnie City Council.
The 2021 theme for International Women’s Day is “Let’s all choose to challenge” #ChooseToChallenge
A challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we're all responsible for our own thoughts and actions - all day, every day. We can choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequity. We can choose to seek out and celebrate women's achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world. From challenge comes change, so let's all choose to challenge.
Tickets for the two- course luncheon are available from www.burniearts.net and are $55 each or $220 for a table of four, $5 from each ticket will be donated to Warrawee Women’s Shelter.
