One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest

Published on 09 February 2021

The 2021 Subscription Season kicks off this month as DoMaur Productions in partnership with MADLight Theatre bring us ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’.

The original novel, written by Ken Kesey, was set in 1959 in a psychiatric hospital. In 2021 Director Andrew Kneebone will bring it to the stage, in the Town Hall in The Round with the audience forming part of the Asylum.

It is the story of Randal P. McMurphy, a charming rogue who convinces the judge of his madness, in order to serve a short sentence in an airy mental institution rather than in a prison. This, he learns, was a mistake.

However, he quickly takes over the ward and accomplishes what the medical profession has been unable to do; he leads other patients out of introversion, stages a revolt so that they can see the World Series on television, and arranges a rollicking midnight party with liquor and women. For one offense, the head nurse has him submit to electric shock treatment. For the party she forces him to submit to a final correction!

One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest will be held on 16th, 17th, 18th & 19th February at 7.30pm and 20th February at 2.00pm 7.30pm.
