Council will join a new initiative that recognises the importance of small business and provides support to this critical sector of the economy.
The Queensland Government’s Small Business Friendly Council Charter encourages councils to commit to activities that support and promote a prosperous small business sector.
Small businesses – those having 20 employees or less – make up approximately 97% of all businesses in the Cairns Local Government Area.
By joining the Charter, Council will endorse initiatives to enhance communication and engagement, promotion and development, and cutting red tape for small businesses.
It is hoped that the Charter will help to retain exiting small businesses, attract new or relocating enterprises, and provide improved access to State Government marketing opportunities and promotions.
This resolutions is to be ratified at the next Ordinary Meeting of Council, to be held on 24 February 2021.
