Increased picnic seating, a walking circuit and an expanded playground will feature in the rejuvenation of Kings Park, Cohuna, with a concept design released in readiness for works next month.
Developed following discussions with the Lions Club of Cohuna and community groups and residents during the final months of 2020, the Kings Park Rejuvenation Project aims to increase the popularity of the park, located at the intersection of Belmont and Cullen streets.
“Council is pleased to have worked with the community to identify what current features located within Kings Park they like and what additions can be made to make the location a place that will bring joy for many years to come,” Council Chief Executive Officer, Tom O’Reilly said.
“This feedback has led to the development of the concept design, which aims to make Kings Park an active recreational hub for the community.”
Features of the concept design include the expansion of the current playground on the Belmont Street side of the park, incorporating an adult and toddler swing, carousel and a playground log scramble balance area.
New garden beds will be planted around the playground, with the installation of increased picnic seating, log seating and stepping logs to cater for families visiting the park.
“Council looks forward to undertaking these improvements and seeing residents enjoying these new features in the future,” Mr O’Reilly said.
Council will keep residents updated regarding the progress of these improvements via Gannawarra Connect, Gannawarra News and Council’s Facebook page.
