To keep our community up to date with key Council decisions, outcomes and plans; here is a snapshot summary from Council’s Wednesday 10 February ordinary meeting.
Vibrant Communities Warragul CBD Streetscape - Queen StreetCouncil noted the draft concept design for the Queen Street Streetscape project and its alignment with the principles of the 2010 Warragul Urban Design Framework and;
endorsed the retention of the existing roundabout at the intersection of Queen Street and Mason Street and; endorsed the proposed community engagement plan to seek feedback on the concept design and; consider a further report on the outcomes of the community engagement before proceeding with detailed design and delivery of works. 2020/21 Community Development GrantsCouncil moved to offer funding to the recommended projects that applied to the 2020/21 Community Development Grants Program and;
noted the changes that have been implemented to support delivery of the 2020/21 Community Development Grants program and; authorised officers with sufficient financial delegation to execute funding agreements with the successful grant applicants and; host a Covid-Safe reception for successful grant recipients in March 2021 and; return the balance of the available 2020/21 budget that is assigned to the Community Development Grants to the Long Term Financial Strategy and; authorised changes to the 2021/22 Community Development Grants program. Destination Gippsland Overview and Future ParticipationCouncil moved to continue its strategic partnership with Destination Gippsland, through financial and in-kind support and receive a briefing from Destination Gippsland twice yearly.
PLA0323/18-16 Drummond Street, NilmaCouncil moved to issue a Notice of Decision to grant a planning permit PLA032318 (16 Drummond Street, Nilma) to subdivide land into 4 lots subject to the conditions in the officer's assessment.
Safe and Sustainable Environments Tender Recommendation Report: Road Resealing Program 2020-21Council moved to accept the tender submitted by Fulton Hogan Industries Pty Ltd for tender 2020026: Road Resealing Program 2020/21 for the total sum of $930,136.15 (excluding GST) and delegated authority to the CEO to sign the contract documents and execute the awarding of the contract.
Organisational Excellence Advisory Committee Policy and Terms of Reference DraftCouncil moved to adopt the Draft Committee Policy and standardised Terms of Reference and;
rescind the Positive Ageing and Disability Advisory Committees, and replace them with an Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee, with all members of the rescinded committees to join the new committee and; rename the Roads and Drainage Advisory Committee to Roads Infrastructure Advisory Committee and; adopt the Access and Inclusion, Arts and Culture, Early Years, Environmental Voice, Healthy in Baw Baw, Place Names, and Roads Infrastructure Advisory Committees and their associated Terms of Reference, inviting all members to maintain their positions on the committees and; appoint Councillor representatives to each Committee. PetitionsPetitions were tabled for the following matters:
Pedestrian safety on Loch Steet, Yarragon, outside the Yarragon Primary School. Safety concerns at the intersection of Brandy Creek Road and Aspect Way, Warragul. General BusinessCr Goss raised a General Business motion to investigate the viability of Council introducing a weekly, fortnightly or monthly payment plan for Rates instalments without the imposition of interest if payments don’t fall behind.
As of Wednesday 2 December 2020, Council meetings have reopened to members of the public. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a maximum of 40 community participants are able to attend Council Meetings. To assist with contract tracing, meeting attendees must register their intention to attend a meeting via this link.
Meetings will remain available to the public via live stream, and community submissions can be made in writing.
