Coffs Harbour City Council’s Disability Inclusion and Access Advisory Committee is calling for new members.

Council is committed to an inclusive community where residents have equal opportunities to engage with services, social experiences and surroundings.

Coffs Harbour City Council’s Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2017 – 2021 (DIAP) plays a vital role in ensuring access and inclusion are fundamental considerations in how we create liveable communities, support access to meaningful employment, provide information and services and promote positive community attitudes and behaviour.

Some examples of outcomes achieved across built environments, systems and processes, and employment so far are;

Partnering with Sport NSW to provide opportunities for inclusive sport including an annual Inclusion Sports Day held at Sportz Central. Improvements to Council’s website to increase accessibility with the inclusion of ‘Readspeak’ technology. All abilities playgrounds at Pearce Drive and the West Coffs Regional Playground, designed on the NSW Government Everyone Can Play Guidelines.

The Disability Inclusion and Access Advisory Committee works collaboratively with Coffs Harbour City Council in the development and implementation of strategies which aim to ensure that the local government area is an accessible community for all people, now and into the future.
